چکیده

Providing fair share of bandwidth is critical to support communicationintensive applications in a shared-medium, capacity-constrained, largescale infrastructureless wireless network. The proposed design has to be distributed, scalable and address the issue of location-dependent contention. In this paper, we present a novel packet scheduling solution that achieves distributed fair service in such multihop, multiple access wireless networks. Our design works well with the CSMA/CA MAC framework. We evaluate our proposed design through both analysis and simulations.

Access control in ultra-large-scale systems using a data-centric middleware

The primary characteristic of an Ultra-Large-Scale (ULS) system is ultra-large size on any related dimension. A ULS system is generally considered as a system-of-systems with heterogeneous nodes and autonomous domains. As the size of a system-of-systems grows, and interoperability demand between sub-systems is increased, achieving more scalable and dynamic access control system becomes an im...

Distributed Fair Spectrum Assignment for Large-Scale Wireless DSA Networks

This paper proposes a distributed and fair resource allocation scheme for large-scale wireless dynamic spectrum access networks based on particle filtering theory. We introduce a proportionally fair global objective function to maximize the total network throughput while ensuring fairness among users. We rely on particle filtering theory to enable distributed access and allocation of spectrum r...

A Survey on Multicast Routing Approaches in Wireless Mesh Networks

Wireless mesh networks (WMNs) which mediates the broadband Internet access, have been recently received many attentions by the researchers. In order to increase capacity in these networks, nodes are equipped with multiple radios tuned on multiple channels emerging multi radio multi-channel WMNs (MRMC WMNs). Therefore, a vital challenge that poses in MRMC WMNs is how to properly assign channels ...

Generalized Priority Queue Manager Design for ATM Switches*

Our concern is the problem of efficiently supporting multiple QOS requirements in ATM networks. A queue manager in ATM network nodes schedules cells’ transmission based on their urgencies at the decision moment, while it controls buffer access based on the cells’ loss priorities. In this paper, we propose a generalized priority queue manager (GPQM) which supports multiple QOS requirements in cl...

A Distributed Transmission Control Method for Weighted Fairness in IEEE 802.11 WLANs

In wireless networks, a medium access control (MAC) protocol is sought to coordinate the transmissions of all nodes for the efficient utilization of the limited channel reception capability. When designing a MAC protocol, fair allocation of bandwidth is an important issue. However, achieving the design goal is difficult, especially for the IEEE 802.11 wireless local area networks (WLANs). In th...
